How to Choose a POD Supplier: A Practical Checklist

Choose a POD supplier by checking five things: the real minimum order, the per-piece price at your actual quantity, how artwork is checked, who pays shipping and duties, and what happens if an item arrives wrong. A low headline price means little if the minimum, freight or reprint policy changes the total.

No MOQ No setup fee Live shipping rates DDP or DDU

Key facts

  • Check 1: Minimum order — can you buy one piece or a sample?
  • Check 2: Per-piece price at your quantity — not just the 1+ price
  • Check 3: Artwork and print method — who checks the file?
  • Check 4: Shipping and duties — DDP or DDU, and who pays?
  • Check 5: Problems — reprint, refund or balance credit?
  • Sample: Always check print quality on one piece before a bulk run

The five checks

CheckWhat to askWhy it matters
Minimum orderCan I order one piece or a sample?A sample is the cheapest way to check print quality and sizing.
Price at your quantityWhat is the per-piece price at 50 or 500?The 1+ price does not reflect a bulk order.
Artwork and print methodWho checks the file, and what file do you need?A bad file wastes the whole run.
Shipping and dutiesIs this DDP or DDU, and who pays customs?Duties can change the landed cost.
ProblemsWhat happens if an item is wrong or damaged? The remedy matters more than the promise.

Questions worth asking before you pay

  • What is the exact per-piece price at my quantity, including any setup fee?
  • Which print method is used for this product, and what artwork file do you need?
  • Is shipping quoted live for my address, or is it a flat estimate?
  • Is the freight DDP (duties included) or DDU (duties paid by the recipient)?
  • What is the production time, and what is the transit time?
  • If an item arrives damaged or off-spec, do you reprint, refund or credit the balance?

Red flags

  • No real per-piece price until you ask for a quote.
  • A very low headline price with a high minimum or expensive freight.
  • No artwork check before production.
  • Vague answers about who pays import duties.
  • No sample option and no clear remedy for a bad print.

How Pod-Sourcing fits this checklist

Pod-Sourcing shows the per-piece price for 1, 5, 50, 100 and 1,000+ pieces on every product page, with no setup fee and a minimum of one piece. Artwork is checked before production, and shipping is quoted live at checkout with a DDP or DDU choice.

Plain products dispatch in 24–48 hours; custom printing adds production time. If something arrives damaged or off-spec, contact us through the order page and we will arrange a reprint or refund.

Next step

The safest way to compare suppliers is to order one sample from each and check the print, the sizing and the packaging yourself. If you need a bulk quote first, send the product, quantity and destination through the quote form.

Yes. A one-piece sample is the cheapest way to check print quality, sizing and packaging before committing to a larger run.

DDP means duties and taxes are included in the freight you pay. DDU is freight only, and the recipient settles import duties or VAT with customs.

A PNG with a transparent background, at least 1,000 px on the long edge, is a safe starting point. Vector files such as SVG or PDF are welcome if you have them.

Order the same design on the same product from each supplier and compare the print sharpness, colour, fabric feel and wash durability yourself.

Contact the supplier through the order page with photos and the order number. Ask specifically whether they will reprint, refund or credit the balance.
